Each month, we spotlight a colleague from across the business to share what they do, how they support our clients, and a bit about their career journey. This month, we’re chatting with Natasha Harper, a Case Cover Conveyancer, to learn more about life at Eden.
What it’s like to be a Case Cover Conveyancer at Eden

What it’s like to be a Case Cover Conveyancer at Eden
Tell us a bit about your role at Eden
I’m a Case Cover Conveyancer working within the case cover team. I work remotely, and I look after other property lawyers’ files whilst they’re on planned or unplanned leave.
Each morning, I meet with my immediate team, who are also qualified case cover conveyancers. We discuss who we’re covering and for how long. It’s a great opportunity to raise any issues and just check in with colleagues.
Throughout the day, I carry out a full range of tasks that a normal property lawyer would do, from submitting searches to issuing title reports, all whilst managing client messages through the MyEden platform and by telephone. My job really is simply to keep the file progressing smoothly towards exchange and completion.
What’s the most rewarding part of your job?
Knowing that the client’s needs are being met and they have a seamless experience whilst their property lawyer is away. At the end of the day, we’re all here to achieve the same goal: to help our clients buy and sell their homes quickly and effortlessly.
And the most challenging?
At more traditional firms I’ve worked for, it was often difficult to locate a lawyer’s emails or documents when they were away. Because our conveyancers follow the same processes and use the same MyEden client platform it's simple. It lets us access conversations, documents, and tasks, so we can easily step in for one another, ensuring clients receive a smooth, uninterrupted service.
Why did you choose Eden?
The firm I worked for before was a more traditional high street firm. I’m definitely more of a tech-savvy, progressive person. We live in a digital world, and that is only going to continue to evolve, and we need to evolve with it, otherwise we’re going to be left behind.
Conveyancing as a whole can be a really complex industry. We deal with old laws, old rules, deeds that are 100-plus years old, but there’s no need to keep the whole process in the dark ages.
I love the fact that at Eden, clients have full access to their files. They can monitor the progress of their sale or purchase, log into their My Eden platform whenever they like (at home, on the sofa, in bed) and see all of their documents and the enquiries we’ve raised. It’s about being open and honest with clients, and it’s that personal touch. That’s really why I joined Eden. I’m all about progression in the world of technology.
What career advice would you give your younger self?
I wanted to be an actress when I was younger. I did a lot of stage work as a child and absolutely loved it. I had some pressure from family not to go into that industry, which I do somewhat regret.
I worked for Aviva for quite a few years in equity release on the lender side and was always dealing with solicitors. That’s when I thought, that’s where I want to go: the world of law. I worked in conveyancing for a number of years before finally deciding to get qualified, mainly because I didn’t really believe in myself or my ability.
It was only after having my son that I felt, actually, no. I should qualify. I really wanted to show him what hard work can achieve, even though balancing motherhood, study and work all at the same time was definitely more of a challenge than managing those 50 files I cover every day!
So, if I was to go back, I would qualify first. In short: just believe in yourself and your ability.
We’re all about innovation, so what’s the one piece of home tech you couldn’t live without?
I actually had a couple of answers to this! First is my doorbell camera. It means I never miss a delivery, and it gives me peace of mind with live feeds and alerts.
But the most essential tech I own is my Bluetooth hearing aids. I wear them daily, and because they’re linked to my phone, I can stream music, watch videos, and take calls directly through them.
And finally, what does home mean to you?
When I think of home, I think of my slippers and being cosy and comfortable. I think everyone deserves a home, somewhere where you can just be yourself and relax. It doesn’t matter how big or small your house is; what matters is that you have a home, and I think everyone deserves that.
A huge thank you to Natasha for sharing her insights with us. Every colleague at Eden contributes to making home moving clear, effortless and more human, and we’re proud to shine a light on the people who make that possible.
